Scientific Aviation Named a 2019 Colorado Companies to Watch Winner
Scientific Aviation, an airborne atmospheric research company headquartered in Boulder and lead by founder and CEO Steve Conley, was one of fifty Colorado-based companies selected as winners of the 2019 Colorado Companies to Watch award. The Sci Av team was amongst the winners honored at a masquerade-themed gala last night at the Marriott Denver Tech Center.

Colorado Companies to Watch is an awards program honoring 2nd Stage Companies headquartered in Colorado that are developing valuable products and services, creating quality jobs, enriching communities, and creating new industries throughout the state. Chosen winners are privately-held companies that are past the start-up stage and are facing issues of growth, not survival. They are small to medium-sized businesses employing between 6 – 99 employees, have between $750,000 – $50 million in annual revenues, and have demonstrated the intent and capacity to grow based upon employee and sales growth, exceptional entrepreneurial leadership, and sustainable competitive advantage.
2019 marks the eleventh year that CCTW has been honoring exceptional companies throughout the state, and the alumni class now numbers 550 companies. Every year, CCTW receives over a thousand nominations, and, following a lengthy application process, narrows the pool down to 100 finalists. After an additional in-depth review of each finalist, 50 winners are chosen.
For company founder Steve Conley, it is a particular honor to be chosen to join this elite community.
“When I started Scientific Aviation, it was just me using my own airplane,” explained Conley. “Fast forward nine years and we now have four airplanes and thirteen employees. The growth we’ve had in just the last two years has been amazing. We have an incredible team of passionate and dedicated employees who really believe in what we do, and I couldn’t be prouder of them.”
